#BIAS GUITAR AMP SIMULATOR SOFTWARE#

Yes, the impedance of your input definitely matters to get the most out of a software emulation. Tube Screamer into S-Gear sounds very nice and is still the perfect extra juice for solos. You're on the right track. Direct into my M-Audio interface the tone was flat by comparison. Huge tip here for anyone using S-Gear, Bias or any other software modeler, stick a real world pedal either a clean boost set to unity or a compressor or a distortion box between the guitar and the interface to buffer the impedance and you'll get a bigger more 3D tone. Without a proper high impedance input the interface will suck your tone. What was pointed out to me on another forum is that the so-called high impedance input for guitars on many audio interfaces is only a few hundred K and not the minimum 1 meg that a traditional high impedance pickup needs to transfer all it's tone. The improvement was huge and not at all like the sound of a software stompbox in front of S-Gear on the channel strip. I haven't had time yet to try it all out but it has a wide range of great tones and feels really good.Īfter using S-Gear for the last two years with my cheap little M-Audio interface I recently found a big improvement in tone by sticking a real world Tube Screamer in front of the interface. You can also take a snapshot of your own mic'd rig. With Bias, just don't go to the deep edit pages and use one preset. If I remember right there's a "White" Amproom from them that might be freeware and it sounds pretty good. Pretty much exactly what you're talking about.Ī few amps, including a Marshall, in a room. Iv'e also tried all freebie/donationware one's and the old KUASSA wasn't bad,but no cigar. You might checkout Softube's Amproom. I actually tested each of the amps in Guitar Rig and Amplitude against each other with the Rhodes and preferred Amplitube in every scenario. (amp does have a direct out that I could use as well though) And, I live on a busy street with fairly thin walls, so mic'ing has a good chance of picking up some background noise. I bought a little Blackstar as I don't have room for one of the bigger recommendations, and living in an apartment with thin walls, can't really get much volume out of it without pissing off the neighbors. None of them sound just like an amp in a room, so for a Rhodes I think Gtr Rig will give you plenty of colors but I'd still mic an amp up if I had the option.Thx. Gtr on the other can be really picky because the range is more limited and it's often hard to get the pickups to interact well with the sim. Gtr Rig also has great effects that work well with keys. Usually with a keyboard you're just trying to get some texture or character and almost any of them do that well.

I often use a Rhodes patch when I'm testing stuff out and I don't think keyboards are as sensitive to the tonal differences as a guitar. Iv'e also tried all freebie/donationware one's and the old KUASSA wasn't bad,but no cigar.

I own Amplitube 3 now I'm down to using a Native Instruments KA 6,which is a fine reliable interface, but I lost"The Sound"]I also own Guitar Rig 5 Pro-great for cleaner sounds, and effects, and lastly the one that comes with SONAR X3 Overloud's TH-2 Producer.close but no cigar. There is a lot you can do with good limited tools There already exists enough tonal variation with this ONE set up for me to get almost all the sounds I want,I don't want all this variation,as your real sound is in your fingers,so I don't want or need all these "often half baked" options.sorry that's just me,if some one made a decent plugin that truly replicated just these components faithfully, then the rest is up to me,and I would buy it on the spot. The thing is I just want an amp sim that ONLY does a 68 Marshall Plexi 100 with the choice of a variac and only ONE choice of cabinet :a Marshall flat front bottom cab with 4x12" 25w Celestion greenbacks in it and a Sure SM-57 mic'ed "off axis".

I watched all the Positive Grid BIAS videos, and one thing that is just like Amplitube 3,and Guitar Rig 5 Pro is their all TOO complex,or much more accurately there are too many choices, sure it's great to have all this choice if you think you need it,and the matching certainly seemed to work well enough.
